Getting a little closer to our destination now, let's move into the Philippines. Here you can see that the group is bounded by Luzon in the north and the predominately Muslim island of Mindanao to the south. To the west, stretching off towards East Malaysia lies Palawan and nicely protecting the Central Visaya from the summer typhoons from the east, are Samar and Leyte.
